C3 Homeschool Coop Brief

A fabulous Venn diagram overlap of CommunityThink, Classical Kids and other enthusiastic homeschool families has recently completed the first year of Classical Community Co-op. "C3" is a more traditionally styled homeschool coop with primarily parent-led offerings for homeschoolers currently ages 3 - 13ish at the Baptist church in Old Mystic, CT.

The 2009-10 offerings included Improv Theater, Chinese, Story of the World, Poetry, Writing Workshop, Chess, Foam Swords and Book clubs and more. We also acted as a host facility for Engineering and Underwater Robotics for the folks at FRC.

For 2010-11, we are looking forward to a second year with some new offerings, including Marine Biology. Do you have some tween & teen students who would like to see offerings? Are you a class/workshop organizer? Are you a volunteer type? What's in your teaching pocket? Stay tuned for more...!

Tuesdsay, August 17, 1p Homeschool Support & Share

Please join CommunityThink at the Groton Public Library in Room One on
Tuesday, August 17th from 1 - 2:30
for a Homeschool Kick-off

Homeschool families new & experienced, or contemplating are welcome to meet and bring ideas, friends & class/event information to share about the upcoming school (or non-school ;0) year!

We will continue to meet on 2nd Tuesdays of the month at GPL. (This first event was rescheduled around town political event requirements.) We hope to add 4th Tuesday FunDay gatherings as well --- what do you have in mind?!

Hope to see you on the 17th!

CommunityThink 2010-11: Still Alive and Well

Despite a decided LACK of postings on this blog, CommunityThink continues to be active with a Groton Public Library bookchat (2009-10), and a new schedule for 2010-11:

We will be meeting at the GPL in Room 1 on second Tuesdays of the month from 1 - 2:30. Bookchat will continue (likely in the Teen Lounge) and folks are welcome to bring games, crafts, ideas and enthusiasm and homeschool support to share in Room One!

Please see http://classicalcommunity.shutterfly.com/ for ongoing events, classes & chatter about area opportunities.
